Over the past three months, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued 38,102 permits for e-scooters.
The free online permit registration platform was launched on 28 April and has a daily average registration of 423 permits.
15,807 permits were issued to the 30 to 40-year-old age group, 14,576 to the 20 to 30 age group and 1,570 to people aged 20 and below.
Around 11,206 permits were accounted for tourists visiting Dubai.
The statistics show a high interest in using e-scooters as a means of transport.
The permits are available for free to people aged 16 years and above.
To receive the permit, a training course needs to be done, which includes lessons about the technical specifications and standards of e-scooters, obligations of riders and districts on where to use e-scooters and a brief on traffic signs and relevant symbols.
