The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has made changes to the Wage Protection System (WPS).
The changes are implemented to protect employees and more sure they receive their salaries on time.
Companies will be monitored through the database and field visits, regardless of the firm's size.
Penalties will apply to all companies based on the size of the company and the number of employees not paid.
Companies with 50 employees or more will get gradual penalties, based on the delay of the payments.
Sailors working on ships and employees from international establishments based in the country are exempt from WPS.
