Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new addition to the taxi fleet, the Tesla Model 3.

The taxis will be available for 24-hour service to all events and hotspots in Dubai, especially at Dubai airports.

Following the operation of 172 Teslas including the Tesla Model S, the Tesla Model X and the Tesla Model 3, in the limousine service in 2017, the vehicles contributed to operational efficiency, zero carbon emissions and high customer satisfaction ratings.

By 2026, over 90% of the limo fleet will be converted into hybrid or electric vehicles.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA said, “The usage of Tesla electric vehicles in Dubai taxi fleet is an exceptional experience, which contributes to realising His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, Green Economy for Sustainable Development Initiative. It also supports Dubai Government’s energy and low carbon strategy aimed to make Dubai a model to be emulated in the efficient use of energy and reduced carbon emission.”
