Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) along with the Dubai Police have launched the Traffic Incidents Management initiative.
The initiative aims to reduce secondary injury-related accidents and improve traffic flow.
Currently launched in 15 highways and key streets, the unit will intervene to get rid of vehicles when minor traffic accidents or cars break down on roads.
The first phase of the project will begin during the second half of the year and will cover, Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Rashid Street, Al Ittihad Road, Al Khail Road, Dubai - Al Ain Road, Al Yalayes Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Rabat Street and Airport Road.
The second phase in 2023 will cover four roads, Al Khail Road, Emirates Road, Jebel Ali - Lehbab Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
The third phase in 2024 will also cover four roads, Dubai - Hatta Road, Umm Suqeim Street, Expo Road and Hessa Street.
The vehicles will reach the site of the incident within 10 minutes and will help with preventing traffic and help restore the flow of traffic immediately without causing a blockage.
