His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a new law that protects the rights of people of determination.
The law will help integrate and include people of determination into society and will protect their rights for anything that may affect their quality of life.
With the law, inclusive education, rehabilitation, inclusive job opportunities in all sectors, healthcare, therapeutic and social services, will be provided.
Individuals must also be informed about their legal rights and will also be assisted in accessing banking services and participating in various sports and entertainment programmes.
The Higher Committee to Protect the Rights of People of Determination has been formed and will deal with issues concerning people of determination in Dubai, implementing policies, plans and initiatives aimed at protecting their rights.
With the new law, people of determination and their guardians can complain if any mistreatment or violation of rights has been experienced.
Identification cards will also be made and fines will be given to violators of the law.
