To celebrate the 50th National Day weekend, Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls around Dubai will host a series of activities and events, with the theme 'Rooted in the Future, to the next 50 and beyond'.
Till 4 December, City Centre Mirdif will host a Future Outdoor Market with over 50 stalls, aimed to support local designers. Henna artists, live entertainment and workshops for children will take place. A car and art exhibition show will also take place along with a show to highlight the history of the UAE.
The oldest Majid Al Futtaim mall, City Centre Deira, will feature a historical activation called Heart of Deira, which will highlight Dubai's old neighbourhoods and link them to the future. A spice souk will also be available with decor and more available. The Tunnel of Time will take you through the timeline from the UAE's beginnings to the current day. Additionally, robotic workshops will also be held for children.
Mall of the Emirates will host an exhibition called Draped in Heritage, which will focus on how the past and the present will help the future. The exhibition will highlight UAE's heritage and will have seven outfits on display, with audio-visuals from Sheikhas and other women in the UAE.
On 1 to 3 December from 5pm, the Dubai Police will host a quiz night at Dubai Outlet Mall. Additionally, offers on retail as well as food and beverage will be available along with live entertainment.
City Walk will give shoppers a chance to win a staycation at one of the Rove Hotels by spending over Dhs 150 and sending photos via direct messaging to @citywalkdubai on Instagram and Facebook. Visitors can also delight in live performances, an Arabic majlis tent and a flashmob, taking place from 2 to 4 December.
The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah will host stunning fountain shows till 3 December from 6pm onwards and will also have fireworks light up the sky on 2 and 3 December at 8pm.
Palm West Beach will be putting on an acrobatic show with two skydivers on 2 December at 5pm and Nakheel Mall will host an art exhibition till 3 December.
The Emirates Motor Festival will also take place at Souq Al Marfa at Deira Islands and will have 300 cars on display, a remote control car obstacle course and drifting challenges along with entertainment and workshops for kids from 2 to 4 December.
Dragon Mart will have several activations including food, henna artists, live entertainment, installations and more on 2 and 3 December from 5pm onwards.
Ibn Battuta Mall will have an Arabic tent, food and drinks stalls and entertainment including butterfly and flag dances from 2 to 4 December.
The Circle Mall at JVC from 2 to 4 December will also offer delicious Arabic treats.
A four-piece live band and saxophonist will perform in English and Arabic at both La Mer and The Beach at JBR from 2 to 4 December.
Children's workshops, face painting and entertainment will be held at Mercato Mall, which will be lit up in the colours of the UAE flag.
Dubai Festival City Mall will have Rashid Al Nouaimi perform his latest Expo 2020 song on 2 December at 8pm and 10pm along with fireworks.
Dubai Festival City Bay will host a variety of activities and performances. Shoppers spending Dhs 1,000 can win 50% of their spending via a DFCM gift card till 2 December.
On 2 and 3 December, visitors at Al Khawaneej Walk will have an Arabic storyteller, traditional Ayalla band and an art competition. Modesh and Dana will also make an appearance on 2 December from 3pm to 9pm and from 3 to 11 December, guests can also delight in an art exhibition.
