His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE has pardoned 870 prisoners.
The move was made as the 50th UAE National Day approaches.
The prisoners released will have their sentences for various crimes cancelled with their fines and debts paid.
The initiative will help provide the prisoners with the opportunity to start a new life as well as ease the suffering of the families.
