The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has approved a blue schools initiative, set to apply at all Abu Dhabi schools.
The blue schools initiative will come into effect from the second term of the academic year.
The initiative will relax safety measures based on the student vaccination rates.
From the vaccination rates, all schools in Abu Dhabi will be divided into four tiers.
The four tiers will offer reduced social distancing requirements, relaxed protocols for wearing masks, an increase in classroom and school transport capacity and a return of extracurricular activities, in-school events and field trips.
The tiers are,
Blue Tier: Schools with 85% and higher vaccination rates in students
Green Tier: For schools with students with 65% to 84% vaccination rates
Yellow Tier: Fior schools with students with 50% to 64% vaccination rates
Orange Tier: For schools with less than 50% of students vaccinated
Students that would like to get vaccinated in Abu Dhabi can get their free vaccine at the children’s vaccination centre at ADNEC.
Children aged 12 and above can receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine with the Sinopharm vaccine available for children aged 3 and above.
