Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported that marine transport has had over 5,734,244 passengers during the first half of 2021.
In 2020, over 4,694,870 passengers were transported through marine transport, which includes the ferry, abra, the water taxi and the water bus.
From 2020 there has been a 20.3% increase in the number of passengers on water transport.
The RTA water transport offers individuals a travel option that passes through some of Dubai's popular tourist attractions.
The water transport is also designed for people of determination to ensure safe and comfortable travel.
Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashemi, Director of Marine Transport, Public Transport Agency, RTA said, “The growth of marine transport ridership posted in the first half of this year is indicative of a recovery in this vital sector in Dubai and the UAE. It is credited to the effective plans charted out by the government, and the strict compliance with the precautionary measures to curb the outbreak of the pandemic.”
