RTA Aims To Make Dubai Taxis Eco-Friendly

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed that during 2020, there were a total of 4,683 hybrid or electric taxis and limousines in Dubai.

Out of the 4,683 vehicles, 4,510 were hybrid taxis and 173 were electric or hybrid limousines at the Dubai Taxi Corporation.

Over 50% of the Dubai Taxi fleet consisted of hybrid taxis.

By 2027, RTA aims to change all the Dubai taxis into eco-friendly vehicles.

His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said, "RTA has taken this in line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai themed Green Economy for Sustainable Development, UAE Vision 2021, and Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030. It is also part of a master plan to reduce carbon emissions of the taxi and limousine sector by 2% in compliance with the requirements of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy."
