The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced a virtual summer camp to encourage children to adopt healthy lifestyles during their summer break.
The camp will feature a range of educational, physical and recreational activities and will run till 15 August for children aged 6 to 15.
The theme for the camp is 'Together for a Fun Summer' and will include activities like healthy cooking, with a focus on children making simple ad healthy meals and gym with you, which will highlight the importance of children doing physical exercises conducted by coaches.
The little chef programme will take children on a series of educational classes and practical cooking workshops, on the basics and rules of choosing healthy products and cooking methods to prepare healthy meals as well as win the title of 'Little Chef'.
Dr Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry's Health Centres and Clinics Sector said, "The camp will include a series of initiatives and interesting activities that would focus on establishing healthy nutritional practices and promoting physical activity among children. It will also support the goals of the National Plan to Combat Childhood Obesity and help achieve the national strategy to reduce childhood obesity, given that it is an advanced national priority."
