Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have released a comprehensive manual, The Activity Manual for Managing and Providing Delivery Services, for the management of delivery services in Dubai.
Since 2020, the need for delivery services has increased, due to the high demand within the delivery sector.
The manual will highlight the procedures governing the delivery services activity, to bring it in line with the strategic goals and objectives of the RTA.
Four key elements are covered in the manual which are:
- circulating the safety stipulations to motorbike delivery companies
- training drivers at driving institutes
- carrying out field awareness campaigns
- regulating the establishment of smart platforms and smart apps for managing the delivery services
The manual also highlights important conditions that delivery service companies and their motorcyclists must comply with for the safety of drivers, specifications of the vehicle or motorcycle, food safety at the delivery of orders and guidelines relating to the uniform of drivers of delivery motorbikes.
Dubai Police as well as Dubai Municipality have partnered to issue the manual.
All trading companies that utilise delivery services including the delivery of food, goods, equipment and other similar processes will use the manual with clear and documented work procedures.
The delivery services sector supports economic growth, upgrades the level of services provided and ensures compliance with the health, safety, environmental and sustainability standards.
