An in-house lab at Dubai International Airport (DXB) is now open to process COVID-19 PCR tests.
The lab is located near Terminal 2 and is dedicated to solely processing PCR samples collected from passengers at DXB.
The lab uses the latest WHO-approved COVID-19 PCR testing equipment and can process over 100,000 samples a day, with results received within a few hours.
Government platforms are linked to the lab in order to share information regarding the results between health and regulatory authorities and airlines.
The lab will help enhance safe international travel with the help of quicker PCR results and is in collaboration with Dubai Airports, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Pure Health.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group said, "The lab is a fine demonstration of Dubai's collaborative approach to tackling complex challenges and achieving great results. The drastic change in travel norms and the introduction of travel protocols including PCR testing have changed the airport experience of travellers around the world. As the world's busiest international hub preparing for a surge in passenger traffic over the summer holidays and beyond, we were keen to make sure that the airport journey is safer, smoother and faster while fulfilling the required health protocols. The lab's quick turnaround for processing test results will go a long way in helping us deliver a service experience the world expects from Dubai."
