Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has launched the 'Safety in Heat' programme in line with the midday ban on work during summer.
For three months, from 15 June to 15 September every year, during the peak summer heat, workers are banned from working from 12.30pm through to 3pm.
The campaign will raise awareness on the importance of employers ensuring that their workers are protected and not exposed to heat stress which can cause several health ailments and injuries.
The ADPHC has provided businesses with several materials to ensure the safety of their employees.
Businesses will have to inform workers on the precautions to take to avoid heat stress, as well as organise online training to ensure that the requirements are followed.
Instructions on eating healthy food, drinking water, taking breaks and wearing suitable personal protective equipment need to be printed and distributed in the places where workers gather.
