Al Ain Zoo To Protect Humboldt Penguins

WAM

World Penguin Day is celebrated every year on 25 April and to mark the occasion, Al Ain Zoo has reiterated its efforts to conserve penguins, especially the Humboldt Penguin.

The Humboldt Penguin is listed as a vulnerable species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species, due to poaching and climate change.

Al Ain Zoo currently has over 60 species of penguins in an environment created to resemble a penguin's natural habitat.

Highly trained experts tend to the penguins by nurturing them with care to conserve their species.

The zoo will soon launch an outdoor beach for penguins, with an outdoor area, a pool, and a beach.

Over 10 to 20 Humboldt Penguins will live on the beach with an area for visitors to interact and feed the penguins.

Al Ain Zoo additionally focuses on protecting endangered species as well as educate visitors on the importance of preserving the wildlife.
