The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that the target to administer vaccines to over 50% of the population by the end of March has been achieved, with vaccinations being made to 52.46% of the population.
The national vaccination programme achieved the target of 50% of the population two weeks early.
Elderly people, people with determination and people with chronic diseases were prioritised to ensure their safety. Currently, over 70.21% of elderly people and people with chronic diseases have been vaccinated.
With over 205 vaccination centres around the UAE, around seven million vaccines will soon be administered to citizens and residents of the UAE.
The UAE currently offers three different COVID-19 vaccines namely, Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
Individuals that have received the vaccine need to continue to follow all the necessary protocols set by the government by wearing their face masks, sanitising and maintaining social distance.
