The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of two new model bus stations, one at Oud Metha and the other in Al Satwa. The stations will now feature practical as well as innovative designs that will cater to people's needs.
The Oud Metha bus station is located near to Oud Metha metro station and has multiple connecting bus routes in the area, making travel easy. Over 350 parking spots are available for passengers that would like to use public transportation. The bus station also has prayer rooms for men and ladies, self-service kiosks, nol card machines, bus information display panel, ATMs, as well as refreshment and snack vending machines.
The Al Satwa bus station is similar to the Oud Metha bus station and has the same facilities but has around 228 parking spots. The stations also have a pick-up and drop-off point along with parking for waiting and standby buses.
His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority said, “The construction of stations for public bus riders complements RTA’s efforts to upgrade public transport infrastructure to encourage people to use public transit means in their daily movement. The new stations boast contemporary designs that cater to the needs of sustainability and people of determination, yet coherent with the identity and shape of RTA’s stations. The role of the new stations goes beyond the prevailing concept of commuting passengers to encompass the offering of integrated services for passengers such as retail outlets, service points, offices and others.”
