The Sheikh Zayed Festival, which highlights Emirati culture to the public is hosting exhibitions with products and practices from Emirati families.
Al Ghadeer UAE Crafts is an Emirates Red Crescent project and institution that empowers low-income women through sustainable craft practices. The foundation’s support allows them to create local handicrafts and products.
Over 200 Emirati and non-Emirati craftswomen of all ages from across the country work together to produce garments, home decor pieces, stationery and other such gift items.
The exhibition also hosts 14 craftswomen specialised in a number of traditional crafts like Sadu, Talli, Khous, Barqa and fabric spinning. People that visit are taken through the history, journey and relevance of these crafts in daily Emirati life.
Al Ghadeer UAE Crafts also offers training to help preserve the crafts for future generations.
The Sheikh Zayed Festival is located at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi with the Al Ghadeer Exhibition taking place at the festival's main entrance. The festival is on till 20 February.
