The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) announced the resumption of issuing entry permits into the country starting from Thursday, 24 September.
FAIC added that work permits are still on hold at this stage.
The issuance of entry permits is within the framework of easing restrictions and strengthening the state's efforts towards supporting recovery plans of the country's tourism sector and economy.
All visas to foreigners were suspended by the FAIC in March as a precautionary measure to prevent and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Only diplomatic passport holders were exempt from visa suspension.
The decision to resume the issuance of visas follows the precautionary measures undertaken by the travel industry to protect passengers and to combat the coronavirus pandemic, stated the Authority.
Abu Dhabi and five other emirates will now allow visitors back into the country for the first time since March.
All travellers are required to take a PCR nasal swab test before boarding their flights to the UAE.
