Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre has updated guidelines for weddings and funerals taking place in the capital with the aim of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
According to the new rules, weddings and funerals can be held in Abu Dhabi with a maximum of 10 guests who need to wear face masks at all times.
The centre also recommends that guests take a COVID-19 test at least 24 hours before the event in order to protect those attending the event.
Health authorities have also recommended the use of disposable cutlery and utensils if food and drinks are being served.
Condolence gatherings are not permitted and people have been advised to offer condolences by telephone or other communication methods.
Guests at funerals or weddings need to maintain a physical distance of at least two metres throughout the event.
Penalties and fines will be issued to those who breach safety measures, in accordance with the laws issued by the UAE Attorney General.
