World’s Tallest Observation Wheel, Ain Dubai Gets Its First Passenger Pod

Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest Ferris wheel, has received its first passenger pod, according to a spokesperson for the Bluewaters attraction.

Photos of the first pod have been circulating on social media with a large banner commemorating the installation which took place on Friday, 21 August.

Residents have also shared images of the wheel bursting into life with a rainbow of colours as a series of tests was conducted over the weekend.

A total of 46 capsules are scheduled to be added to the observation wheel over the next few months, and construction is expected to be completed before Expo 2020 in October 2021.

Once launched, Ain Dubai will stand more than 250 metres above Bluewaters Island, eclipsing the High Roller in Las Vegas at 167 metres which is currently the tallest Ferris wheel in the world.

With more than 9,000 tonnes of steel having been used in the construction of the attraction, Ain Dubai will be both the largest and highest structure of its kind.

The Ferris wheel is all set to become a tourist hotspot, offering unparalleled views of Dubai’s skyline and the Arabian Gulf.
