Public Are Reminded Of Measures In Place As COVID-19 Cases Rise

Over the past few days, the UAE as reported a daily increase in the number of new positive coronavirus COVID-19 cases in the country, with the number of new cases per day doubling over 5 days. On Sunday 210 new cases were reported, on Monday 229 new cases, on Tuesday 365 new cases, on Wednesday 435 new cases and on Thursday 461 new cases.

The public are reminded that in order to contain the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, though a number of restrictions previously in place have been lifted, certain measures are still in place and need to be followed.

The increase in cases is largely attributed to large gatherings, which are still restricted, and strict fines apply which include a Dhs 10,000 fine for hosting a large gathering and a Dhs 5,000 for everyone attending.

There are also still fines in place of Dhs 3,000 for not wearing a mask where required to do so, not maintaining social distancing and for having more than the maximum 3 people in a car, unless they are from the same immediate family.

Up until now the UAE has carried out over 6 million coronavirus COVID-19 tests, with 65,802 total cases of which 58,153 have recovered, 369 have died and there are still 7,280 active cases.
