Dubai is ready to welcome international visitors again from 7 July after a few months without tourists, due to restrictions in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, and is telling the world in an innovative way.
Dubai airline, Emirates, partners many football clubs around the world, and their newest sponsorship partner, French Ligue 1 football club Olympique Lyonnais, played their first match under the partnership that came into effect on 1 July. The friendly match played at Olympique Lyonnais Groupama Stadium against fellow Ligue 1 team OGC Nice, saw Olympique Lyonnais not carry the expected 'Fly Better' logo on the front of their shirts, however wore a special one off jersey with the message 'Dubai Is Open' across the front. Olympique Lyonnais won the game by one goal to nil.
The 'Dubia Is Open' message will also appear on digital signboards at stadiums of clubs also sponsored by Emirates.
Emirates sponsors other football clubs around Europe including Arsenal FC in the English Premier League, Real Madrid in Spain's La Liga, AC Milan in Italy's Serie A and Olympiacos FC in the Super League Greece.
