The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of a new bus depot in Dubai. The new depot, located in Al Quoz complements other depots at Jebel Ali, Al Khawaneej, Al Ruwayyah, Al Aweer and Al Qusais, and will serve buses operating on 24 routes all over Dubai.
His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority, visited the new depot which includes a residential quarter comprising of 102 rooms to accommodate 368 drivers, a food court with capacity for 120 people, a clinic, a rest area, a plaza and a gym.
The new depot has a parking area for up to 273 buses and also includes a workshop with 18 bays bus maintenance, air-conditioning, oil and tyres. There is aso am area for both automatic and manual washing, which is linked to a system for filtering and recycling the water used.
“The construction of this depot complements RTA’s efforts to upgrade the infrastructure of mass transport to encourage people to use public transit means in their daily movement. It will also boost the integration of multi-modal transport, reduce the operational cost of buses, and meet the needs of Expo 2020 bus service, which will accordingly ease the mobility of visitors and organisers,” said Al Tayer.
