The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has further intensified the movement restrictions in its efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
As per the new announcement, anyone who wishes to leave their homes to buy groceries or medicines during the period of extended sterilisation operations should obtain a permit of movement on the website dxbpermit.gov.ae.
It is important to bear in mind that even with a permit, only one member of the family is allowed to go to the supermarkets or pharmacies, and should always wear a proper mask and hand gloves to avoid hefty fines that range between Dhs 500 to Dhs 50,000.
According to the statement released by the government committee, employees working in exempted vital sectors are not required to register on the website but should obtain a letter from their employer stating the purpose of their commute. Such employees should be able to present the letter for verification when required. The letter can also be used to waive radar violations during the sterilisation period.
The Committee stressed that those violating the restrictions will face stringent legal action.
In case of any confusion, the committee recommends calling the hotline number, 800 737648 to verify rumours, and to rule out potential misinformation. It is strongly advised to not pay attention to unverified information being circulated on social media.
