As students in the UAE settled down for their first distance learning class from home, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to social media to share a picture of him attending the virtual e-learning class.
The tweet read, "Today I attended the first virtual school day in a public school. 1.2 million students were enrolled in our government schools, private sector schools and our national universities. Schools stopped and universities remain closed. But education will not stop."
In another post, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid says, "We heavily invested in smart learning during the past 10 years and today we reap the fruit of this investment with smart systems in our schools and integrated infrastructure, creating a platform for lessons to be taught to all stages. I salute Ms Amal Zaid Nasser and her students from Al Majd Model School in Sharjah for hosting me in their virtual class. The experience is new to everyone and parents have a big role in supporting the success of this new educational phase."
