Majid Al Futtaim malls which includes Mall of the Emirates as well as City Centre Mirdiff, City Centre Deira and City Centre Al Shindagha have announced a shortening of their opening hours.
Shops in all Majid Al Futtaim malls will now open from 12 noon until 8pm. However, there is an exception for Carrefour supermarkets, pharmacies and medical clinics; these outlets will operate as usual with regular access for customers.
The statement issued by the company reads, "As of March 18, Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls across the region will begin operating between the hours of 12 pm and 8 pm only. These reduced hours have been put in place to afford further cleaning and sanitisation of our assets, ensuring a safer experience for our customers. The safety and wellbeing of our valued employees, retail partners, and customers remain our number one priority."
There is no update on how long the opening hours will remain changed. Previously, the malls opened their doors from 10am to 10pm during weekdays.
All entertainment venues including cinemas in the malls have already been asked to close until the end of 31 March.
