The UAE Tour cycling race began today, Sunday 23 February, and as elite professionals take to the roads throughout different emirates, some roads will remain fully and partially closed this week.
Starting off today at The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah and finishing the day at Silicon Oasis, motorists are advised to expect road closures on Umm Suqeim Road, around Al Qudra Cycle Path, Bab Al Shams, Al Marmoun, Lehbab and Sillicon Oasis up to 3.45pm. The race returns to Dubai on Tuesday 25 February for the third Emirates Mountain Stage. It will set off from Al Qudra Cycling Track and finish off at Jabel Hafeet in Al Ain. In Dubai, the Al Qudra racing track including the road leading to Bab Al Shams will be closed to the public from 11.05am until 11.25am.
On Wednesday, the race will enter into stage 4, The Sprint, starting from Zabeel Park and cyclists will snake through Meydan Racecourse, Nad Al Sheba, Motor City, Jumeirah Islands, Emirates Hills, Mushrif Park, Al Khawaneej and Business Bay bridge to finally reach City Walk.
Routes will start to close for the public from 11.35am, and the final road closure will be put into operation after 3.35pm.
