The UAE government has granted a 10-year gold visa to Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. The Juventus striker will be joined by six other sportsmen who will also receive the long term gold visa.
The move is a part of Dubai Sports Council's initiative to add globally recognised athletes to the eligibility list for the residency visa and encourage them to live and invest in the Emirates.
A frequent visitor to Dubai, Ronaldo never shies away from expressing his love for the city. From being the most followed person on Instagram to being ranked second in the Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes of the decade (2010-2019), Ronaldo is unarguably a global phenomena.
Last year, the UAE Cabinet granted the long term visas to scientists and entrepreneurs based on their contribution and influence to society.
