The Federal Authority For Identity And Citizenship has granted permanent residency to 2,500 UAE residents. Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Permanent Golden Residency visas were given to investors, researchers and scientists.
The visas were granted at a special reception in Abu Dhabi attended by the recipients and their families. The reception was in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, along with His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Lieutenant-General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs along with other dignitaries and officials.
The idea of granting permanent visas was first announced in May last year and the first ones were granted in May this year.
