OAG, the international provider of travel data has released its list of ‘Top Ten Highest Revenue Routes’ and the highly popular Emirates route between Dubai and London Heathrow came third on the list.
Emirates flies 10 flights per day to London’s three airports of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, and of these six are between London's biggest airport Heathrow. The route generated revenues of over Dhs 2.8 billion with close to 32,000 hours of scheduled flight time during 2018. During the year 2,674,872 passengers travelled on this route between the two airports, almost 5% of the 58.6 million passengers that flew with Emirates in 2018. All six flights between Dubai and London Heathrow are served by the super jumbo, the Airbus A380, of which Emirates is the biggest operator.
British Airways route between London Heathrow and John F Kennedy International Airport in New York was the most lucrative route making revenues of over Dhs 4.2 billion in 2018 and Qantas's Sydney Airport to Melbourne Airport was second generating revenues of over Dhs 3.1 billion.
