Good news for all parents. Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released preliminary annual school inspection reports earlier than normal to give parents more time to choose a school that best suits them.
Dubai School Inspection Bureau (DSIB) inspected a total of 176 private schools, of which 18 schools have improved their rating this year. Four schools have moved from ‘very good’ to ‘outstanding’, five from ‘good’ to ‘very good’, six from ‘acceptable’ to ‘good’ and three from ‘weak’ to ‘acceptable’.
Parents can review the mini-school reports available at the KHDA website (www.khda.gov.ae) for quick information before deciding on new schools. KHDA also sends each parent individual feedback report about the child’s school by email.
The detailed inspection reports are expected to come out by mid May 2019.
Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “Our schools have consistently improved year-on-year and this is good news for parents because they now have a wider selection of better quality schools in Dubai. Ten years back, only 30 per cent of students received ‘good’ or better quality education and today this number has more than doubled to 70 per cent. It is important for us to keep pushing towards better quality education and keep up with Dubai’s aspiration and future needs.”
Fatma Belrehif, Chief of Dubai School Inspection Bureau (DSIB) said, “The number of schools offering ‘good’ or better quality education has increased from 38 schools in 2008 to 119 schools in the current academic year.
