Artificial Intelligence To Measure Your Smile

Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Happiness Centres to measure customer satisfaction levels.

Smart cameras using AI analyse the facial expressions of customers before and after processing their transactions at the centre. The images are not saved in respect of their privacy, however instant reports indicating customer’s happiness levels are recorded by the system on the spot.

The initiative has been implemented in four customer happiness centres at Al Barsha, Umm Al Ramool, Deira and Al Awir. The initiative will follow up reports to find out if the happiness levels have changed in the Emirate.

The cameras are manufactured in the UAE and take 30 frames per second with no flash required and can minimise the light cluster to enable accurate reading of the facial expression.

Maher Shirah, Director of Smart Services at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, said, “This technology generates an atmosphere of positive competition amongst customers’ happiness, and prompts the use of the ‘Gamification technique’ to improve on the level of services; which ensures the customers happiness and satisfaction” concluded Shirah.”
