In respect to UAE National Day, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 625 prisoners. The prisoners will be released from Dubai’s prisons ahead of the UAE’s 47th National Day.
Rulers across the UAE have also pardoned prisoners, with His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, ordering the release of 182 prisoners, His HIghness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, pardoning 90 prisoners, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has pardoned 205 prisoners. This is in addition to the announcement earlier this week that HIs Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ordered the release of 785 prisoners.
Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan said that "the move reflects His Highness’ keenness to promote happiness among all sections of society and offer the pardoned inmates a chance to reintegrate into society. The announcement will bring happiness to the families of the released inmates.”
