The UAE Embassy in Jakarta has warned residents travelling to Thailand not to use E-cigarettes when in the country.
A tweet from the UAE Embassy states that Thai authorities prohibit the possession and smoking of electronic cigarettes of all kinds and the violator is liable to pay a fine or a prison sentence or both.
“While electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are used around the world as a way of helping people quit smoking, travellers coming to Thailand should be aware that these devices are in fact illegal in the kingdom. There have been recent incidents of foreign travellers who were unaware of the ban facing an on-the-spot fine or being arrested,” the tourism authority said in a statement.
