The Traffic Safety Committee in Abu Dhabi announced that speed limits in Abu Dhabi will be reduced to 80km per hour when road visibility drops to around 200 metres due to bad weather conditions.
The rule comes in the light of enhancing road safety and ensuring public safety all the times. The department has urged motorists to follow the reduced-speed limits until the visibility level returns to normal, all motorists can then drive at regular speed limits.
The smart overhead signs installed on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Abu Dhabi–Dubai Road) and Sheikh Khalifa Highway (Saadiyat) will display modified speeds. Speed radars will be adjusted accordingly.
