Another scam has come to light in the region. This one is in the form of a ‘VAT Refund Notification.’ Scammers have begun emailing residents with the subject line ‘VAT Refund Notification’ claiming that the recipient is eligible for a certain amount of VAT refund. The email continues to ask the recipient to fill in a form containing personal information such as credit card details and account numbers, to receive the refund.
Residents are warned against these scam emails and urged never to give out details such as account number, online and mobile banking credentials or credit and debit card details such as username, password, PIN or CVV numbers. These details will never be asked for by your authorised bank.
