The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened the first phase of a new project on Sheikh Zayed Road which included the improvement of Latifa Bint Hamdan and Umm Al Sheif streets from the Al Safa junction to the Al Manara junction.
A double decker bridge will now link Jumeirah with Al Khail Road, First Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Road and will direct traffic from Umm Al Sheif Street to Al Wasl Street and Sheikh Zayed Road up to Latifa Bint Hamdan Street.
The project aims to improve traffic movement between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, and between Jumeirah and Dubailand.
The second phase of the project is expected to open in 2019.
