Dubai Government’s Department of Finance (DOF) has announced the launch of the 'Week without Service Centres' initiative, under which more than 1,000 services provided by 40 government departments will only be available through smart channels, such as mobile apps and websites.
The initiative comes after the success of the last year’s one day campaign when all government services that day were carried out on smart payment channels.
This is in line with the vision to go 100% digital by 21 December 2021, a date set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Rashid bin Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai.
Last year the initiative, run on 26 October, increased government revenues through smart channels by 30% on that day. A total of around 31,000 smart government transactions were completed totalling Dhs 55 million, compared to Dhs 42.2 million for transactions completed the preceding day.
