There is relief for commuters who use Emirates Road leading to Sharjah from Dubai. The opening of Al Badea bridge connecting the highway with Maleiha road is expected to streamline the traffic towards Sharjah during peak hours. The bridge is an important traffic gateway as it is one of the five crossing points between Sharjah and Dubai.
This dedicated three-lane interchange was made open to the public on Sunday and it has already reduced the traffic conditions on both sides
Engineer Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of Road Department at Ministry of Infrastructure Development, said, “The Dhs 200-million Al Badea Bridge project is one of the most important projects in the UAE connecting the northern and eastern emirates with Dubai and Abu Dhabi via Sharjah. The project is implemented as part of the comprehensive plan to develop the network of roads and bridges, accommodate the growing increase in traffic and hence ease the traffic movement all over the UAE.”
