In light of a recent job advertisement that sparked mass controversy in the region, the UAE has warned firms against discrimination. The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has specifically condemned specifying race, gender and nationality when posting job ads.
National legislation is specifically against discriminating against candidates and the country was a signatory to international legislation, including the 1974 International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Discrimination of all forms is illegal in the UAE, as per the federal law and can land companies with a fine of Dhs 1 million.
