UAE-based Keralite expat and billionaire Yusuff Ali M.A. has announced that he has kept Dhs 4 million aside to aide flood victims in Kerala, India.
The billionaire, who owns, LuLu hypermarkets, has donated Dhs 2.56 million to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Dhs 1 million to two Kerala publications to help them raise funds to assist affected people in Kerala.
The devastating floods in Kerala have killed close to 40 people and more than 36,000 people have lost their homes.
Yusuff Ali M.A. left his hometown in Kerala in 1973 and moved to Dubai to help a relative with his business in Abu Dhabi. Currently, he is one of the world’s richest billionaires with net worth estimated to be around $3.9 billion.
