Three were killed and 44 injured in an accident on Tuesday morning on Al Shawamekh Bridge heading towards Abu Dhabi.
The horrific accident took place at 7.30am when a bus and two other vehicles collided on the Abu Dhabi road, as reported by Abu Dhabi Police.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhahiri, Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Director, said that preliminary investigations showed that a distracted motorist caused the accident while he was using his mobile phone. He added that not only the distraction, but sudden deviation, tailgating and speeding also played a major role in causing this deadly accident.
The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi also urged motorists to drive carefully and not to use mobile phones while driving.
