As part of a crackdown on beggars in Dubai, police arrested a beggar with Dhs 100,000 of cash in his in his fake prosthetic leg.
Dubai Police tracked down an Asian man in his sixties, who was begging in Al Quoz area after the Dhuhur (midday) prayer. Police officers found only Dhs 25 at first, but later when they thoroughly inspected him, the officers found out that the beggar had hidden Dhs 45,000 in cash and bank notes of other currencies in his fake leg.
After further investigation, the beggar was found with Dhs 100,000 in cash in his possession, according to Sky News Arabia.
On further inspection, it was found out that the man entered the country one month ago on a visit visa.
Since the launch of the campaign, which was on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, Dubai Police have arrested 243 beggars which included 136 men and 107 women.
