Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that 86 per cent of the work under the first contract of the improvement of the Latifa bint Hamdan and Umm Al-Sheef Streets Project has been completed. The link road is expected to open to the public in the last quarter of this year.
The second Dhs 800 million contract that links Jumeirah with Al Khail Road & the parallel roads (First Al Khail Road & Al Asayel Street), is 60 per cent completed and will open to the public in the first quarter of 2019.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said, “The project is undertaken in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to carry on with the construction of roads and transportation projects to cope with the upswing & demographic expansion of Dubai and the drive to bring happiness to people. The project would also accommodate the growing traffic volumes, and ease the mobility in various parts of Dubai. It also complements RTA’s strategic plan for improving vertical traffic corridors such as the Airport Street, Tripoli Street, Al Yalayes Street and Al Asayel Street.”
