In honour of the Holy Month, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 700 prisoners from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments ahead of Ramadan. The prisoners are of different nationalities.
His Highness’ decision to issue pardons to inmates is said to ease the suffering of their families’ as well as aiding them towards a fresh start. Attorney General of Dubai, Essam Issa Al Humaidan suggests that this gesture will have a widespread positive effect on the community.
