Listening to your favourite tracks may have just got easier. Swedish entertainment company ‘Spotify’ is rumoured to be launching in the UAE. The music streaming service, made popular in 2008, recently issued a statement that it has 170 million monthly users worldwide but is yet to break ground in the region.
Talks of a launch began when the company listed job openings based in Dubai including a 'Senior Editor Middle East and Africa' and a 'Technical Account Manager’. Although there have been no official confirmations as to whether Spotify will make its way to the region, the suggestion comes at the height of a technology-driven week.
It is being reported that Microsoft and Apple are in talks with the UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) about lifting the ban on Skype and FaceTime in the UAE.
Microsoft has been confirmed that the talks are occurring, saying: “We have been working closely with the local authorities towards gaining a better understanding of the local requirements in an effort to get Skype unblocked.”
