The UAE had an interesting group of never before seen visitors!
Off the coast of Fujairah, a group of scientists going by the name of Fujairah Whale Project, were conducting a routine aerial survey and ended up making an exciting discovery.
For the first time ever in the UAE, a group of rough-toothed dolphins were spotted about 64 kilometres east of the Fujairah Port. The dolphins which are identified by their conical heads and slightly turned up long beaks. Scientists were surprised to notice the majestic mammals so unusually close to the coast, as they typically tend to dwell in deeper waters. Fujairah Whale Project is also working with Al Mayya Sanctuary and Fujairah Port to form an official record of the marine diversity of the coast.
