Dubai's roads can entice drivers to violate rules and break the speed limits and eventually it lands culprits in jail.
Nine youngsters involved in street racing on Al-Qudra Street recently were arrested by Dubai Police. The poilice charged the motorists with violating traffic laws and endangering the lives of follow road users. The vehicles involved were also seized.
"The police spotted a group of young people driving their vehicles recklessly, and violating traffic rules," said Brigadier Abdul Rahim bin Shafi'a, director of Al Barsha police station. "They were racing and their cars did not have number plates," he added.
The head of the Traffic Registration Department was immediately alerted. A team consisting of CID, Traffic Department and Department of Transport and Rescue was set up and sent to identify and arrest the violators.
