Discount Supermarket Expands Into Dubai

Discount shopping just got better!

With stores that opened earlier in Sharjah and Ajman, Viva has recently expanded in Dubai with their very first branch in Deira in the K6 Building in Al Muraqabat and plans for 11 more locations by the end of this year.

Landmark Group, the company behind the chain, said it is a "very good time" to launch the business because people are "conscious of what they are spending".  With the implementation of VAT in January, shoppers are seeking smarter and cheaper alternatives to their regular shopping destinations to save where they can. This has brought the emergence of other discount stores such as Hema and Kiabi.

A concept based on European chains like Aldi and Lidl, the new discount supermarket chain aims to cut shoppers’ bills by a third!

Some fantastic deals you can find are sweetcorn for Dhs 1.95. There’s also a 2kg bag of detergent powder for just Dhs 5.95, shower gel for Dhs 3.95, and Dhs 6.95 for conditioner.

CEO of Viva George Fisher said, "Customers will experience a different way of shopping where the highest quality at cheapest prices is found in a compact format all in one place."

The Deira branch is open 10am to midnight from Saturday to Wednesday, from 10am to 1am on Thursdays, and 8.30am to 1am on Fridays.
